Well, we've done it! Our "no carpet" plan is officially complete!
After our success with the guest bedrooms, we decided to step it up and go for real wood in the master bedroom, even though it was a bit pricier. We were still able to do a floating floor, and it was nice not to have to mess around with glue. This time we took the baseboards off instead of using quarter round to cover the necessary gap between the wall and floor.
Jeff took an afternoon off to get a good start on the closet in the masterbedroom. When he tore up the carpeting, we found quite a bit of mold under the shoe racks, which is the likely explanation for my relentless sneezing and runny nose every time I went into the closet.
So after weekend number 1, the master closet was complete and looking great!
With the help of one of Jeff's coworkers, we got the furniture moved out. Jeff removed the carpeting and cleaned up the floor.
We worked on the bedroom floor over the weekend
and completed it in 2 or 3 days! Another of Jeff's coworkers helped move the furniture back in, and we are now officially carpet free!
