We've been getting our money's worth out of our Audubon membership with trips to the zoo, including Mother's Day.

I've been waiting for a splash pad to open up in New Orleans ever since we stumbled upon the one in Abita last year, and finally, we have one! The cool zoo is a water park inside audubon zoo, but without actual pools. It's got fountains and slides, and is just a great place for cooling off in our Louisiana heat!
Jeff took cassidy down the slide twice. The first time she got drenched on the way up the stairs, and was crying before she hit the slide. The next time, they went up the back way, and she lasted until he sat her down on the slide where water was gushing out onto her lap. That put a quick stop to her desire to go down the slide "herself".
A daredevil our girl is not.
Most of her time is spent running up to the edge of the fountains, but not actually running through them. Occassionally she misjudges and gets a faceful of water, which results in a bit of whining while wiping her eyes.
I'm still hoping for a splash pad at city park someday, as this one we have to pay for even though we're members. But I'm sure we'll be spending a lot of time there this summer cooling off!
On our past couple trips to the zoo, we bought wrist bands for each of us for unlimited carosel rides, cool zoo admission, train rides, and dinosaur exibit.
Cassidy did NOT like the dinosaurs.
And I admit, they were quite scary.
They are lifesize, moving, roaring, growling recreations of various dinosaurs, and I found them quite creepy. Cassidy was terrified and wanted no part of them.
