Mardi Gras Maddness 2007

On tuesday morning, we ventured down to St. Charles with our camping chairs and cooler, set up our little space on the "neutral ground" (median, to those of you in Wisconsin), and enjoyed the mardi gras bead-catching and parades

After the "truck parade", during which 63 semi trucks decorated in various themes travel the parade route throughout the city, littering the streets with as much Mardi Gras crap as possible,
we headed down to Bourbon Street to take in the official Mardi Gras scene. While it was only 4pm, the street looked like this...

Continuing in my adventurous spirit of the year, I splurged and bought a $4 mask to wear for the festivities. We only lasted until around 5:30, when we headed home to let the dogs out. Despite our good intentions to eat dinner at home, rest, and then head back out on the town for more fun, we emptied our bags of Mardi Gras Goodies on the kitchen table, crashed on the couch, and passed on our opportunity for more of this year's Mardi Gras Maddness.
