So it occurred to me that most of you don't know how I spend my days at work. I won't bore you with the details of what we actually do in the lab... I've found that telling people I'm a biochemist is one of the fastest conversation killers ever known. Most people just smile and nod, or say "oh, wow", and then change the conversation to something else. Occasionally the brave soul tries to actually converse with me about my job, and ventures a question like, "What do you actually do, what do you study?" I usually make it about 2-3 sentences, including words like Ubiquitin, protein degradation, or enzyme kinetics, before their poor little eyes glaze over, and I lose them completely. I can almost hear them thinking ..." what will I eat for dinner tonight?" or "boy, I hope my TiVo is recording Grey's Anatomy" or "I hope the star of my fantasy football team didn't get hurt today".
So like I said, I won't bore you with the details. But since everyone likes pictures, here's a few of the lab where I spend my days.....
You should get someone to give you a window!!!!
