Morning at Home:
Very wet diaper from nighttime
This morning she asked me to put a diaper on. I redirected to underwear and had her pick out which ones she wanted to wear.
I asked "A" and "E"(my super mommy resource) about this in the morning. Both said keep her in underwear.
2 attempts

0 accidents
Morning at School:
Several attempts and willing to sit on the potty
0 pees

1 pee and poo in diaper for naptime.... she's holding it until then.
Correction: 1 pee and poo explosion as soon as they put the diaper on her.
Afternoon at School:
0 pees

Today when I picked Cassidy up, "A" mentioned that perhaps we should step back and put Cassidy in diapers again for a bit. She's concerned about her holding out for the diaper and thinks if we take a step back and let Cassidy lead the way, she'll come around to using the potty in the next couple of weeks. She's also concerned that she could develop some health problems by refusing to go like she is. I think I'll put in a call to the doctor and check on this, but I'm more concerned about the anxiety Cassidy might feel about going to school thinking she can't poo or pee until naptime.
I'm not sure about what to do here ... but then again, I haven't been sure about anything we've done so far. We'll see what tomorrow brings.
Evening at home:
1 pee in the potty
0 poos
0 accidents
I think a major issue here is that at home, Cassidy chooses to pee and poo on the potty that sits on the floor, rather than on the seat that sits on top of the toilet. They don't have the floor kind at daycare, and she seems to be intimidated by the "big" potty.
Daily totals:
1 pee in the potty
0 poos in the potty
1 explosive pee/poo in diaper
dry pants all day
Excitement over stickers after her successful pee at home
0 M&Ms
0 raisins
0 tantrums
1 happy little girl in the evening
1 confused mama
Impressive that she can hold it. That girl is definitely "ready" with that kind of control. Hoping she's able to feel moe comfortable at school soon. Maybe the weekend will be what she needs to build her confidence.
ReplyDeletePoor girlie (and Mama). I was wondering about the potty size. I'm with you and not so concerned about the issue of "health" but more so sad that she's not comfortable there and doesn't want to make a mess.
ReplyDeleteI have a friend who's son never used the potty other than at home. He's now five and still won't. His doctor attributed this to his very cautious personality.
I haven't been around Cassidy much but from knowing her through you I think she's probably of the cautious variety :-)...and that coupled with the big potty, other transitions, and just generally being new at the potty she's just not comfortable using the potty at school. Poor dear.
I was thinking yesterday that maybe the weekend at home to focus on the potty would help, but maybe y'all need to run all over town and have her sit on every big potty around. Or maybe hang out at home and have more opportunities for success? I'm not sure about this one. Rumph.
I'd probably hold off on diapers at school if you can. It's only been three days...and she had pees in the potty on the first two days. Do you think she holds it at home?
I will say Freddie's frequency in urination decreased dramatically once out of the diaper. At first he peed everywhere all the time. Now he really only goes once or twice morning and afternoon, unless he's hitting the apple juice. Smile.
